Water… About 71% of the Earth’s surface is covered with water. Yet I can’t seem to get enough of it. It’s free, it’s everywhere, and I know the many wonders of water, yet I can’t seem to get in my daily dose.
I can’t tell you the countless doctors that have told me this year and years past that I need to drink more water. And sometimes I do manage to get on a great streak of drinking it. It’s then that I see what all the talk is about…
What is that talk? What is the scoop on water? First, our body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. It helps maintain blood volume which aids in oxygen transport and electrolyte balance. Staying hydrated is also great for weight loss. And that’s just the tip of the ice berg, so to speak, on water. That all sounds pretty essential to better health. So, why don’t I get in my daily dose?
I often just don’t and then, you know it… the dreaded state of dehydration comes knocking. And with that comes increased fatigue (is that possible?!) and mood changes. Did you now that even mild hydration, as low as 1%, can impact a person? That was an eye opener to me – and an added incentive!
My water problem... it’s actually caused me countless trips to urgent care due to related issues. It’s been costly, both financially, time-wise, and even painfully. So WHY don’t I do it?
I could give you a lot of excuses why – if I’m having a flare-up in my condition, staying hydrated becomes an endless cycle of water going in and out. It’s seems like a losing battle even though I know the intake is still doing quite a bit of good. It’s a battle though that when I’m in a flare-up I’m too tired to fight. But what may have contributed to that flare-up? Not drinking enough water.

Water... water... water... I am writing this as part of my vow that water will become my new best friend. While it has its “downside” at times, the upsides sure outweigh them, prevent them, and come on, water is free Lisa!!
So, as my fellow blogger has motivated me to do (thank you @thatautisticfitchick), I have started the habit of hydration. And honestly, with a bit of a focus on it, it has been quite easy. Water on the rocks, watermelon, water where ever I can get it. I have enough issues with my illness to handle; water will not take me down again. I will use water to my advantage – and oh what an advantage it is!
I vow to stay hydrated from this day forward!

Newly Crowned Hydration Goddess 😉
So informative! And most people often don’t drink enough st all! When I was st my most sick I actually over drank and was drinking 7 litres a day which was just doing the opposite but my body was craving it but of course I was losing nutrients! It’s that important balance isn’t it! Great post and so great t have someone explain why it’s important!
Woohoo you keep on getting that water in! Staying hydrated will bring you so many health benefits <3 it's been an utter pleasure to have you participating in this month's hydration challenge and I am glad to see that you plan to keep it going!
