pretty sure we are all plain “done” with these Covid-19 shenanigans – social distancing, masks – the works! I have to say though that for the first time since this all started that I have hope. I have hope that an end is in sight!

Vaccines

I know that vaccinations can be controversial but the fact is that this is going to be our way out of this pandemic. The more people that get it the quicker we can get to herd immunity.

With many vaccines already issued to our healthcare workers, first responders, and those in nursing homes we are already decreasing the amount of the virus that is out there. If we can continue at this pace and reach more and more groups of people, I think it just may be safe to say that this summer may look quite a bit different than last summer. I really hope so!

Who Gets the Vaccine and When

I have to say I am glad that it is not my job to prioritize who gets the vaccine when after our healthcare providers. Do you start with the essential workers that are exposed day in and day out? Do you begin with those that are at high risk due to a compromised immune system? How do you choose? Who goes next, and then next?

These are some hard decisions that cannot be taken lightly. I’m glad to say that I have complete faith in the Governor of my state to make these decisions. He has kept us informed, followed the data, and kept us as safe as we he could.

I have to admit though that I really hope my doctor okay’s me to get the vaccine, given my chronic illness and that if given that okay, that I can get it soon. While living with Covid-19 has been the norm this past year, it’s still a stressor that always lies in the back of my mind that I would gladly like removed.

Life Beyond Covid-19

I would love to think that we’ve learned a lot from this pandemic. For example, that many of us can work full-time from home just as effectively from the office. The commute time and money savings has been wonderful.

I do also hope that it gives us a new appreciation of the ability to freely go where we choose without the worry of being caught up in the pandemic. I can’t wait to go for my first massage once this is all over, my first movie, my first restaurant dining-in meal. This pandemic has given me a whole new appreciation for the freedoms I once took for granted.

Then End

Pandemic – I am ready for you to be gone! I am ready to get out in the world, see friends, enjoy group activities….

What will you enjoy the most once this pandemic is over?
