I recently started reading a book that asked the simple but profound question, “do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?”
On the surface this seems like a simple yes/no question. But is it? Let’s break it down a bit and see if that reveals our true answer to the depths of such a question.
Courage
Courage comes from a place of a great strength. It means taking on a challenge despite your fears. These fears can stem from anything – past mistakes, insecurities, fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of success, etc..
Before you can answer such a question you have to ask yourself, “in this moment, do I have the strength to take on this opportunity?” Is it the right time? Is it the right opportunity?
The Treasures that are Hidden Within You
I read this and thought what beauty lies within that statement. It assumes that within each and every one of us there are treasures within us. In other words, there is a beauty within each and every one of us beyond that which we have already discovered. That there is more greatness waiting to burst from us if we let it. How exciting is that?
But Hidden?
How will these treasures ever be revealed if they are hidden? How does a person find their treasures? And that is where courage comes in. The courage to let yourself be vulnerable enough to allow yourself to be open to the new, the scary, the bold. If you let yourself be controlled by your fears your treasures will remain hidden. However, if you can find the courage to move past those fears and reveal those treasures, a life amplified can be brought within reach.
Amplified? Well, it can be like turning a light on in a darkened and shadowed room. It can be the ray of sunshine through the clouds. It can be the spark that lights your fire. The turn of the key that open the door to your future.
So Now I Ask…
Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that lie hidden within you? Now that you’ve thought about it a bit, what does this question mean to you? What’s happened when you have said yes in the past to such a question?
