Top Tips for Preventing Your Isolation Days from Blending Together

If there’s something that I think many of us have experienced is that our days are starting to meld together.  Monday, Tuesday, what day?   Days in isolation can quickly all start to seem the same but they don’t have to.

Create a Schedule

One of the top tips for keeping your days separate and distinct is to plan something special for each day that you only do on that day.  For example, every Monday, start the day off with a special coffee blend and every Friday participate in your favorite self-care activity.  Perhaps its meditation, a long bubble bath, or an hour of journaling.

Stick to your Schedule

This strategy will only work if you stick to your schedule. If you start mixing things up, you will quickly find that your days are blending together again.    That doesn’t mean that you can’t mix up your schedule to keep things fresh, but it helps to have something special to look forward to each day.

Brainstorm Some New Activities

Your old bag of tricks may not work after being in isolation for so long so you may need to spend some time brainstorming some new ideas.  Some things that come to mind for me that I know many have found as a great way to spend this time are:

  • Puzzles

  • Games (both online and board games)

  • Movies

  • Music

  • Journaling/Blogging

  • Books

  • Socialize/Video Chat

  • Painting (or more generally, new hobbies)

  • Extra time with pets

If you are feeling that you are in a rut, perhaps some of these ideas can filter into your time and your days.   Hopefully they can mix things up a bit and make Monday Monday and Friday definitely Friday!

How have you kept your days unique and distinct?

Do you have certain activities that you only participate in certain days?  Have you found a way to keep your weekends separate and special than workdays?   Have you started any new hobbies?
